Hello my friends! First off, thanks to all who have purchased the new CD. I hope you are digging it. Thanks also to those who are out there spinning and/or requesting "Crazy Like You". People seem to dig that tune and I am truly thankful.
I just realized I haven't really posted anything since I was halfway through a blog about my trip to California this summer. My bad. We made it back all safe and sound. August was a crazy month with the release of the album and all that accompanies that. We have a group back together and are on the road pretty solid through the end of the year.
I have been invited to be and artist at Steamboat this year, I am honored and excited. I got to song swap with Radney Foster, Randy Rogers, and Brandon Rhyder in Dallas this past Monday. I am also opening for Radney this weekend in Houston. I'll open for Reba McIntyre in October (that should be big). I've already sold more of the new album online than I have sold of my first one. We have new merch. These are all cool things that I am proud to share.
My golf game is still pretty shaky. I am playing Cory Morrow's golf tournament this upcoming Monday. So is Drew and we have squeezed in a couple of practice rounds in the past couple of weeks. Things don't bode well for our teams. My dad told me about a golf tournament his group almost lost, he was disappointed because the losers got pool cues and a strong urging to take up a new hobby. I don't know if Cory has pool cues for the losers, but my group could very possibly be in contention. I played in Kerrville last week and had two birdies on the front nine, I also had a seven and and eight. It's the Grossman from last football season curse, really good or really bad.
Speaking of football, I am excited to see the NFL season start tomorrow night. I can't say that I'd be all that sad to see New Orleans beat the horseshoe off of Peyton's helmet. Yes I'm still bitter. Things will be good again for the Bears. Grossman will be better and if Cedric Benson drops the 'tude and plays well the offense will be something to deal with.
This is my first year to have a fantasy team. We got in a league with an automatic draft and I guess who my QB is...Brett Farve. The fantasy gods have a sense of humor. I don't really know what I'm doing, but my neighbor (also in the league) is some kind of fantasy football guru. I imagine I'll lean hard on him for advice and strategy.
On the road we've been rocking a trio, with upright bass, drums, and me. It is really cool and funky. I think I'd like to add a fiddle player and am currently in the hunt, if anyone reading this knows somebody...send them my way. They need to be able to sing too.
That's about all I've got. I look forward to football, cooler temps, and tons of shows. See you soon.
