Band on the Run.

Good Wednesday to you all. What you are about to read has not been proofread, it's more real that way.

October has been a month on the road, they are all seeming to become that way. I've been from Nashville to Phoenix and all over Texas (as usual) and we are only on the 25th day of the month right now. Here we go.

Nashville was an experience I will never forget. I am neither rich nor famous but I saw first hand how one goes about it. I can't begin to describe how that city and trip changed my perspective on how this music business really works.

While we were there Mike and I stepped into a bar one night only to find out it was being overtaken by the "music mafia". Now I know when you hear that name you think Big and Rich. Well, it wasn't exactly what we saw. John Rich was there, and hosted what turned out to be a 3 hour, full band jam session. Different "mafia members" got up through out the night and played whatever kind of music they specialized in; country, rock, soul, blues. It was a real trip to see, and a theory of mine was disproved. I figured if I saw John Rich in Nashville that he'd have a little cloud of hundred dollar bills floating around his feet like Pigpen from Peanuts--he didn't.

After the Nashville trip we had a little down time and Kristi and I used that as a chance to use up some free plane tickets we had and we headed out to Phoenix, AZ for a little vacation. Who am I kidding; we were there for one reason Chicago vs. Arizona, Monday Night Football! Yes, we saw that game first hand. It was only my second pro game and first Bears game ever. For those who didn't see it, check out http://www.chicagobears.com/ there is no way I can retell that evenings events on the field. We showed up early, tailgated, and saw one of the most dramatic games in MNF history. (Chicago one by a point, and then later that same week the Baylor Bears also pulled off a rally and won by a point for their first homecoming victory in 9 years. It was a scary, but good week for my two Bear teams. Anyways...) You might have seen Kristi and I if you were looking, we were in the Urlacher jerseys...oh wait, so was half the stadium. That man is and unbelievable talent, and if he gets a cut of jersey's sold, he'd be rich man off of that alone.

Well after all that personal traveling, it was back to Texas and we are in the midst of a great run of shows. I'm headed out to College Station tonight to do an acoustic Lonestar Live show with Drew Kennedy, and that is always a good time. From there it is on to Corpus, Kingsville, and then we end the run back here in Austin on Saturday night. While we're talking about shows, big thanks to the Tolar Volunteer Fire Dept. for having us out to play, we had a ball and you guys really showed us love, thanks.

Well that's about it for now, see you down the road. Bear Down! Sic 'em! And show up when the JGB is in yo 'hood!

Later days.
Josh
