JOSH GRIDER - DATES

Tuesday, February 07, 2006

Hello! I wonder if anyone will read this, I guess I couldn't blame you if you had given up on another journal entry. Well, here it is ye of little faith. Technically I'm not due another one for a few days because if you'll remember I wished everyone a happy Valentines Day in my last entry. Here is a brief list of things that have happened since the last entry.

Had a merry Christmas
Got a new 9mm
Had a Happy New Year
Have played exactly 16 gigs
Had heart broken by Chicago Bears
Bought a freakin' tour van!!
Got robbed.

Indeed, Christmas was wonderful, though it feels like it was about a hundred years ago. I received a Taurus 9mm pistol from my wife...Awesome! It was great to see family and friends.

New Years was kind of crazy. I've never had more gigs fall through for one day than for NYE '05. We ended up without one so I got to ride with Kristi and her band to Houston where they played the uber swank "Houstonian" ballroom. Tickets were somewhere around 250.00 bucks to get in...but I was with the band. I was definitely out of my league, but with the band. A great time was had by all.

It seems like a lot of people I know are fairly uninterested in pro football, preferring college when given the choice. Well not me, I really enjoy pro football, and as you well know, I love the Bears. I didn't watch any football until the actual Super Bowl, after Carolina humbled them in Chicago. I couldn't believe the same thing happened again, first round bye, only to be eliminated in the first game. The worst part of it is that nobody gave the Bears any credit all year and for them to fold in the that game just backed up everyone's theory that Chicago was a pretender, not contender. Argue.

On to more exciting things...like our freakin' tour van! I must tell you it is awesome...a '96 green Ford E-150 w/ 4 bucket seats, and a bench in the back that will lay down into a queen sized bed, drop down DVD screen...pretty amazing, especially after considering the week before we bought it we had four guys squeezed into an F-150 supercab. I absolutely love it. We've had it out on some road tests and she's done great. We're heading to NM next week and that will be here first big test, I have every confidence that she'll be fine. Did we name her? I know that is what you are asking yourself, and the answer is no. The trim package is called the "Chateau" package, so she is oft referred to as the Chateau but as far as an official name, not yet.

Just after we bought the van we did get robbed, and that was not cool. Somebody got into the trailer, but apparently were scared off before they could make off with too much. They did however get our mics and Seth's bass. I hate liars and thieves...and on the day after we were robbed, I especially hated thieves. At least they didn't get the PA.

We've done some sweet shows in the past couple of months as well, opening for Stoney Larue at the firehouse was defiantly one that comes to mind, as well as the last Poodie's show. I have to take time and give props to Rachel, Emily, Kelly, and all the amazing support that we get from everybody at Poodie's. Everytime we play I think, next time surely won't be as cool as this time, but it always is. We also got to play before Junior Brown last weekend, that guy is pretty wicked. His voice really blew me away, I've never heard such low notes come out of a human.

The calendar is filling, I can't believe how many feb. dates we have, if only they could all be so busy, and I think they will be. As always, I'm not going to proof read this, until I have a secretary, you'll have to deal with my grammatical and spelling mistakes. I put up a couple of new pics and I hope to update this again soon. See you at a show soon!

J
