Hello friends. We are days away from the Texas River Jam, I hope you are ready. I talked with one of the event coordinators the other day and he wanted me to let you know that if you want to camp (and you do) that you need to pre-purchase your tickets at www.sterlingtalentgroup.com. We are going to have a big time, I hope you are there. Brian Burke, Ryan Turner, Brandon Jones will all be there and we are going to play until the sun comes up. People are definately going to be floating on the day of the event (July 2). We are going to be in College Station the night before so I'm not sure whether we'll make it for the float or not, we may go the 3rd. Plus, if we spent an entire day on the river I'm not sure how efective our performance would be. I'm sure it would leave an impression, I'm just not sure what kind.
I am excited to get back out and be playing again, we'll see you soon.

No, we're not playing in College Station this weekend, nor did we last. I have been a bit behind on the old update, sorry. People seemed to like the saga of .5 though. When this music career derails I think I'll write a book.
For the moment however, I'd just like to report that we have one of our only June shows this Sunday in New Braunfels at the Tavern in the Gruene. Kris and I will be there to press and impress you. Hopefully Kristi will come with us and do a few. She and I got to play together here in Austin at a last minute gig this past weekend. It was great, for those of you haven't heard Kristi you are really missing out, she's fantastic. I realize that you can't take my word for that because I am her husband, just wait 'till you hear her though.
San Antonio is on a tear. They look great, and Detroit looks pathetic. We'll see what happens tonight.
I bought the Brian Wilson, Smile DVD. That is one of the coolest purchases I've made in a long time. You wanna talk about some wild music, Smile has it. Kristi and I got to see it live last fall, one of the best shows I've been to. I've loved the Beach Boys since my buddy Larry introduced me to their music in the first grade, and their drummer Dennis Wilson said it best with, "Brain Wilson is the Beach Boys, we (the band) are just his messangers." His genious really amazes me. Whenever you hear us doing something with harmony at a show, that is absolutely Beach Boy influence coming through.
I hope to start putting up some new music in the music section of the website, we have been getting some cool recordings from some shows, keep your eye out. I wrote a song the other day for one of my buddies in Iraq and I think that the easiest way for him to hear it would be if I posted it on the web. I'm gonna look into it.
It make this whole War on Terror very real when you know someone close to you is over there, I can't imagine actually being there. My buddy Travis said that it is getting up to about 115 degrees while their out wearing 40 lbs. of gear. Travis is an enlisted Marine. Be sure to keep our troops in your thoughts and prayers, not to mention their families back home waiting for their return. It takes a great deal of courage and faith to be in either situation.
I think I'll just leave it at that for now...
Josh
